The best way to keep silver looking good is to not get it wet. Keep it away from moisture. If it does get wet, wipe dry with a soft cloth and buff it to shine. If the silver becomes very dark, polish with a bit of white toothpaste and buff it dry. Store it in a zippered plastic pouch.
Brass will shine if first rubbed with a dry cloth moistened with a little dab of coconut oil. Then buff with a soft dry cotton cloth to bring out the shine.
